What we collect, and what we don’t.
The calculators run entirely in your browser. We never see the numbers you enter, and there is no account to create.
What we do have is advertising, served by Google AdSense, and that involves cookies. Everything below explains exactly what that means.
We show ads. We do not sell your data.
This site is free because Google AdSense pays for it. Ads use cookies. You can turn personalised advertising off at any time — section 6 shows you how.
| Accounts required | None |
| Calculator inputs stored | None |
| Data sold to third parties | None |
| Email list | None |
| Advertising | Google AdSense |
| Analytics | Aggregate only |
We do not ask for, and have no way to receive, your name, date of birth, Social Insurance Number, banking details or CRA credentials. No legitimate calculator needs them — if a site asks, leave.
Who we are
QuickCalcs Canada operates this website, providing free financial and tax calculators for Canadian users. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean QuickCalcs Canada, and “you” means anyone visiting the site. This policy is written to meet the requirements of Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial legislation, including Quebec’s Law 25.
What the calculators do with your numbers
Every calculator on this site runs entirely inside your own web browser using JavaScript. Salaries, home prices, RRSP balances, capital gains — none of it is transmitted to us, none of it is written to a database, and none of it is logged. When you close the tab, the numbers are gone. We could not retrieve what you entered even if we were asked to.
Information we do collect
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical information for every visit: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. This is used for security, troubleshooting and traffic measurement, and is retained on a short rolling basis.
- Aggregate usage statistics. Which pages are popular, roughly where visitors are located at country or region level, and which devices are used. Reported in aggregate, not linked to individuals.
- Anything you send us. If you email us or use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply.
Advertising and Google AdSense
This website displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Advertising is how the site is funded and how it stays free to use, with no paywall and no account requirement.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and to other websites on the internet.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie — enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites across the web.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks may also place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons and similar technologies, to measure and target advertising. We do not control those cookies, and this policy does not cover the practices of those third parties.
- Advertising cookies may collect information such as your approximate location derived from your IP address, the pages you view, the device and browser you use, and your interactions with ads.
- We never share the numbers you enter into any calculator with advertisers, because those numbers never leave your browser in the first place.
You may opt out of Google’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at any time through Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies at aboutads.info. For more detail, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Opting out does not remove advertising — it means the advertising you see will be less relevant to you.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are served through a Google-certified consent management platform, and advertising and cookie preferences can be set or changed through the consent notice shown on first visit.

Your choices and controls
- Turn off personalised ads. Use Google Ads Settings — this applies across every site you visit, not just this one.
- Block cookies in your browser. Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all let you block or delete third-party cookies. The calculators work normally with cookies blocked.
- Use a private window or an ad blocker. We would rather you did not, since advertising pays for the site, but nothing here will stop you and no content is withheld.
- Do Not Track. There is still no agreed industry standard for honouring DNT headers, so this site does not respond to them. The controls above are effective; DNT is not.
Children
This site is intended for adults dealing with mortgages, salaries, taxes and retirement savings. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Retention and security
Server logs are kept on a short rolling basis and then deleted. Correspondence is kept only as long as needed to deal with it and to record any correction it prompted. The site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security — but since the site holds no accounts, no payment details and no calculator inputs, the amount at risk is deliberately minimal.
Your rights in Canada
Under PIPEDA, and under provincial legislation where it applies, you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask for it to be corrected, and to withdraw consent to its use. Because we hold so little — essentially only correspondence you chose to send us — most requests can be answered quickly. Write to us and we will respond within thirty days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to your provincial privacy commissioner.
Changes and how to contact us
If this policy changes materially — a new advertising partner, a new analytics tool, a change in what we collect — we will update the effective date at the top and describe the change here. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
